The basic day rate at GEN Racing Stables is $50 dollars Aus.

Normal extras can be
Farrier $100 per month
Dentist $50 every six months
Oil and Worm drench $70 every six months
Worm paste every $7 every six weeks 

One off extras are
1 Winter rug $100
1 Summer Sheet $80 
1 Bridle and reins $100

Unknown extras can be
Veterinary services 
Floating services 
Trial fees

These costings are for 1 whole horse owned by a single
owner. If a horse is owned by several owners then the costs 
will be proportionate to the amount of horse owned.

Metropolitan Thoroughbred Horse racing has the greatest highs and the lowest lows of any sport competing at the top end of athletic performance. Training a race horse from the beginning
to its first win (hopefully) is a time consuming and lengthily process.

If you race a horse for the thrill and excitement and hopefully there is a big cheque at the end as well, you will enjoy your self.

If you are chasing the big bucks and not the thrill of the win and are constantly concerned on what it is costing  then maybe a less engaging sport like Lotto or Scratch n Win  might be the go.
